Here it is the Monday again and I’m SUPPOSED to be spending today picking topics for future eArticles. But the internet is calling me and pulling my attention away! But that’s OK really, because there is some great info on the internet if you give yourself permission to poke around and take a little time to read some blog posts and watch some videos and let the flow of the internet take you someplace interesting. Today I’ve watched several EXCELLENT videos that relate to using acrylic paints in the studio – things like avoiding over-diluting acrylic paints, how to clean brushes and palettes, and even how to get dried acrylic paint out of clothes or other fabrics. Good stuff. So I wanted to let you know about them.
I stumbled across these videos in a round about kind of way. Maryjo Mcgraw recently posted a link on her page on Facebook to a blog that had in turned shared a video on “The Worst Mistake Acrylic Painters Make” made by acrylic artist and teacher Michelle Theberge and posted on her website and on YouTube. After enjoying this video, I wondered what other videos Michelle had done and found a bunch of good ones.
If you like using acrylic paints in your stamp art, I really think you’ll find these helpful so be sure to check them out. What I think is especially good about these videos is that Michelle is able to explain things about the makeup of acrylic paints in an easy to understand way so you get why you should do things in a particular way for the best results. I also like that she tries to pick less toxic methods of doing things in the studio whenever possible.
Here are a few of the videos that I think you would particularly find helpful as a stamper using acrylic paints:
